Tour Itinerary

Guests are transferred from O.R. Tambo International in Johannesburg for a flight to Kruger Mpumalanga Airport where they are met and transferred to the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve. The reserve is named after the two principal rivers which flow through it, namely the Sabi and the Sand and covers an area of approximately sixty five thousand hectares of pristine African wilderness. The reserve is part of the Greater Kruger National Park and is home to most of South Africa’s finest Safari Lodges. The late afternoon is devoted to a first game drive in search of Africa’s Legendary Big Five in an area where many other mammal and bird species grace the African Savannah and give meaning to the words ” Spirit of Africa” |

A sky colored gloriously by the rising sun greets guests on an early morning game drive, admiring the antelope of Africa as they ready themselves for a day of grazing or browsing after the nervousness of night, when they are at their most vulnerable to the many predators in the area. Highlights of the day are sure to include sightings of one or more of the Big Five. The Rhino, Lion, Leopard, Buffalo and Elephant received this well known collective name in times past when the first European Hunters in Africa regarded them to be the most dangerous animals on the continent. A game drive conducted during the late afternoon and early evening could offer the opportunity of spotting one of the Big Cats, readying them for the hunt. Both the Leopard and Lion are nocturnal and would mostly be more active during this period of the day. |

A last morning game drive in this wilderness sanctuary is followed by a flight to O.R. Tambo International in Johannesburg. Guests are met upon arrival at the Airport from where they travel to Pretoria. The Jacaranda City, so named for the tens of thousands of Jacaranda trees which line its streets and transforms the city to a purple wonderland during Spring when the trees are in full bloom. A tour of the city’s highlights is on the agenda as the tour visits the Union Buildings with its commanding view of the city. The building currently houses the office of the South African president. Designed by the famous British Architect Sir Herbert Baker, it is regarded as one of the countries architectural masterpieces. A visit is also made to the Voortrekker Monument which bears testament to a people’s pioneering spirit. After some time for freshening up at the hotel, guests are invited to spend the evening in the company of their hosts at a traditional South African BBQ. Overnight: Illyria House |
Days 4 thru 7: Sun City – Casino
You will be met and transferred to Sun City – an exotic holiday casino resort in South Africa’s North West Province. It is rated one of the top casinos in the world.After settling in, enjoy a refreshing drink at one of the two bars at the hotel as the sun sets over the distant mountains. Take a trip into the multi-cultural village where you experience the day-to-day living of rural areas through dress, song, dance and food. The highlighted cultures are Zulu, Pedi, Xhosa, Ndebele, among others.

Days 4 thru 7 Sun City – Casino
Visit the Valley of the Waves for a day in the sun, taking advantage of the wave pool and water-slide or enjoy a range of water-based activities on the nearby lake. Why not take in a round of golf on one of the two championship gold courses. Sun City offers a wide range of activities to suit every taste. After a delicious dinner in one of the excellent restaurants, try your luck in the casino or take in a show.

Day 8: Departure
Guests are met at O.R. Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg) and are assisted in transferring to an international flight back to their country of origin after a memorable tour of Southern Africa. |
